Volunteers are important to us

Volunteers staffing the crisis line undergo 40 hours of in-depth training on crisis management. Volunteers commit to work one shift a week for no fee, and are paid $25 for each additional shift. In 2007, PSPC had contact with 576 clients in its victims and trauma program, 361 individuals dealing with grief, provided educational programs to more than 1765 people, received 5149 calls on the local helpline, 6089 calls on the 1-800-SUICIDE line, and 1489 on the Teen line. PSPC worked with a total of 15,429 people in 2007. Not including education outreach, PSPC worked with more than 13,664 people in crisis.
