The Heartbeat Program is a support group for survivors of suicide.
About Heartbeat...
The Staff of Pueblo Suicide Prevention Center offer our heartfelt condolence to you and your family and friends. We would like to offer our grief support services free of charge. During this trying time Pueblo Suicide Prevention Center seeks to provide some hope and comfort to you and your family. The grief process is unique for each person and we hope to offer support and guidance. Please contact us by phone if you or your family might benefit from our grief services.
How a support group can be beneficial...
| • | Being a member of Heart Beat reverses the tendency toward isolation and provides a sense of belonging and community. |
| • | Members have experienced the hurt and depression one feels after the loss of a loved one to suicide. |
| • | Our feelings of anger and/or guilt can be expressed without judgment. |
| • | IMembers have the opportunity to become friends with people who have suffered similar losses. |
| • | IGrieving persons learn that all of us have resources within ourselves. |
| • | The longer-bereaved survivors can be models of hope. |
| • | It helps to realize that no one is alone in grief. |
| • | Self-esteem is enhanced by being able to help others which is a normal process in support groups. |
| • | Support groups provide the opportunity to volunteer. |
| • | Being able to speak to others about problems without encountering rejection reinforces feelings of self-worth. |
| • | Members of Heart Beat understand the complications of depression |
| • | This is a place to meet people who truly care about you. |
